Welcome to Behold Aesthetics and Wellness Center! I am Adrian M. Nowitzke, CRNA, MSN, APRN, the proud owner and founder of our center. Born and raised in Effingham County, I currently reside here with my husband, Shawn, and our three wonderful children: Jordon, Conner, and our daughter Adilynn. As a family, we cherish our time outdoors, enjoying activities like boating on Lake Shelbyville and Lake Centralia.

With over 11 years of experience in anesthesia and a background as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), I have dedicated my career to providing exceptional patient care. Since becoming a Registered Nurse in 2007, I have honed my skills in precision and patient assessment. For the past four years, I have applied this expertise to aesthetic procedures, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in every treatment.

At Behold Aesthetics and Wellness Center, we believe in a holistic approach to each patient. Our commitment to helping clients look and feel their best is reflected in our cutting-edge services, which include a full range of medical spa and wellness treatments such as neurotoxins, dermal fillers, skin resurfacing, lasers, weight wellness injections, and PRP regenerative medicine services. I take pride in delivering personalized consultations and custom facial mapping experiences that yield outstanding results.

ANA MEYER

Attended Eastern Illinois University – Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science

Attended Lakeview College of Nursing - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

I have been a registered nurse for almost 13 years now. For much of my nursing career, I have been working as a surgical nurse in the operating room and same day surgery and I continue to do so today. I enjoy meeting new people that come through the surgery department and listening to their stories. I’ve been at Behold since June 2022 and have loved every minute growing and learning in the aesthetic field of nursing.

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interest /treatment and why?

I’ve always been interested in skincare, treatments, and the science behind it all. I’ve had treatments done in the past and absolutely loved everything about them, so it was a really easy decision to join the Behold team and be able to provide those same treatments to others. My favorite treatment (right now because it will probably change) would be our microneedling treatments. I have loved seeing the improvement in our patient’s skin after a series of treatments and the joy of good results makes me so happy! 

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

What I enjoy most about nursing is the ability to help someone feel better, to be a “Day-maker”. Whether that be providing treatment before or after a surgical procedure, holding someone’s hand that needs to be comforted, or providing an aesthetic treatment that changes the way someone feels. I truly feel nursing was my calling to be a person someone can count on and to be someone that can make their day better.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

I love our Team! I’m so blessed to be surrounded by a wonderful group of caring and compassionate women. We all work so well together to provide the best treatment to all our patients. It really is a team effort, and it is so nice to be able to work with a team that all have our patient’s best interests at heart. 

It’s so much more than aesthetics at Behold. We love to know who you are and what makes your life full. Our patients are like family. It’s like a family reunion when you come back! 

Tell us a bit more about your personal life and interests.

My husband Mike and I have 3 wonderful children (Addison, Kason, and Emmy) and 2 sweet pups (Sadie and Millie) We have lived in the Teutopolis area since we were babies and are thankful to be able to raise our children in this community too. We love spending time outdoors, jeep rides, and having drinks around a fire. We are currently in a very busy stage of life with our kids/sports, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Averie Bushue

Tell us about yourself.

I graduated as a Licensed Esthetician in the spring of 2024 and attended Aesthetics Institute in St. Louis. Although I am newer to this industry I have continued to learn outside of school and have received many certifications including Face Reality acne expert, dermaplaning, chemical peels, and more!

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interest /treatment and why?

My favorite services would have to be dermaplaning, hydrafacials, and lasers. With many of these services you can get that instant glow on the skin! I have suffered with pigmentation and acne myself so I am definitely results- driven and wanting to help all my patients achieve the skin and confidence they deserve! I love learning all things acne and will keep furthering my education to help others. Being at Behold I can use my license to the fullest!

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

I definitely enjoy seeing my patients smile after treatments and seeing their confidence flourish. I love working with acne and pigmentation since those have been a problem for me personally so helping others with it as well makes me happy. In this industry there’s always more to learn everyday and that’s what I love about this career.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

I love how hardworking and dedicated everyone is, it definitely makes for a great work place. Everyone becomes family and they all genuinely care about one another and it just feels like a second family. They also take pride in continued education which is great since this industry is constantly evolving.

Tell us a bit more about your personal life and interests.

I grew up in Effingham county and still currently reside here. I golfed in college and I still golf a lot today and I am also a traveling makeup artist when I’m not in the treatment room. Love spending time with my new puppy Luna and being outdoors. I spend most of my time around my boyfriend Bryar, and friends/family. 

BRITTANY WERMERT

Tell us about yourself.

I have 17 years nursing experience in Women's Health and Wellness in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interest /treatment and why?

The ToxBooster Treatment is just one of my many favorite treatments Behold offers. The results are absolutely stunning. Wrinkle relaxers combined with the VI Peel improves your fine lines, makes your skin glow, tightens and tones, and helps improve pigmentation and acne/scars. Such a great combination!

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

I really enjoy getting to know my patients and finding a treatment plan that works best for their needs. Finding time for self care is never easy and I feel so blessed that our patients choose Behold and put their trust in us to help guide them through their aesthetic and wellness journey.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?
Our team. We value each other and the personality and expertise each person brings to the table. We laugh a lot and are compassionate about the care we give. We take pride in our education, making sure we are practicing as safely and effectively as possible.

Tell us a bit more about your personal life and interests.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, planting flowers, shopping, learning, being outside, and rooting on The Wooden Shoes, Green Bay Packers, and St. Louis Cardinals.

ANNA (SCHUTZBACH) HECHT

Hi! My name is Anna (Schutzbach) Hecht. I am a Licensed Esthetician and Certified Laser Technician, having graduated from iMAJ Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the Fall of 2021. With comprehensive training as a medical esthetician, my expertise spans a wide range of treatments including hydrating facials, dermaplaning, Hydrafacial, microneedling (both standard and Radio Frequency), laser therapies, and more. I am excited to bring my education and hands-on experience to the Effingham area, where I am committed to helping my clients achieve their skincare goals and feel their best. One of my proudest accomplishments is earning the Face Reality Acne Expert Certification. This certification deepened my passion for helping individuals address acne from the inside out, and I look forward to continuing this work at Behold, supporting clients in their journey to clearer, healthier skin. 

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interest/treatment and why?

I have a deep passion for all aspects of beauty and esthetics. If I had to choose one treatment I enjoy the most, it would be the combination of a Hydrafacial and dermaplane. This dynamic treatment provides an instant, radiant glow by exfoliating and hydrating the skin. Dermaplaning effectively removes dead skin cells, while also getting rid of "peach fuzz," which is a favorite benefit among many of my clients.  The Hydrafacial works like a vacuum, extracting dirt, oil, and makeup from the pores, while simultaneously delivering customized serums that hydrate and rejuvenate the skin. It's truly one of the most effective treatments for achieving an amazing glow! Overall, my focus is on results-driven treatments, with an emphasis on addressing concerns such as acne, anti-aging, and overall skin health.

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

I am truly passionate about helping my clients feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. I’ve always had an interest in the beauty industry, but it wasn't until I struggled with adult acne in my early 20s that I found my true calling. After feeling hopeless, I finally sought the help of an esthetician who guided me through my acne journey. This experience not only transformed my skin, but it also ignited a passion for esthetics that has since evolved into this amazing career. I want all my clients—current and future—to know that my treatment room is a safe, non-judgmental space. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to seek professional advice, and I am committed to creating an environment where clients feel supported and heard. I feel that it’s truly my calling to help others feel their best, both inside and out! 

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

Since becoming a client of Behold’s myself, even before I started working as an esthetician, I’ve always been so impressed by the incredible team here. You’re truly in great hands, and it’s clear how passionate everyone is about taking care of their patients. It’s been so rewarding to be part of a team with such talented and driven women!

Tell Us a bit more about your personal life and interests

I was born and raised here in Effingham. My husband, Ben, and I recently moved back to the area after spending three years in Arizona and traveling across the country. While we loved our adventures, we're so happy to be back home, closer to family and friends. Our world revolves around our Goldendoodle, Louie. If you’ve met me, you’ve probably heard all about him! The three of us enjoy being active, so you’ll likely see me walking around town, spending time with family, or shamelessly watching reality TV. I can't wait to meet you!

MARISSA GUNN

Tell Us About Yourself

Marissa Gunn/ I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist since February of 2019 and a Licensed Esthetician since September of 2022. I graduated from the Lake Land College Massage Therapy program in December of 2018 and the Esthetician program in August of 2022. My training has given me a strong foundation in therapeutic bodywork and skincare, and I am passionate about helping others feel their best.

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interest/treatment and why?

I specialize in therapeutic massage and customized skincare treatments. I love combining different modalities, such as relaxation massage, deep tissue techniques, cupping, and hot stones to help my clients reach their wellness goals. I also focus on addressing specific concerns and providing skincare treatments tailored to their individual needs. I love these specialties because they allow me to make a meaningful difference in my clients' well-being and confidence.

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

I enjoy connecting with my clients and seeing the positive impact my work has on their lives. Whether it's relieving stress, improving mobility, or boosting someone's self-confidence, it's incredibly rewarding to help people feel better inside and out. 

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

I'm excited to join the Behold team because of the supportive and uplifting environment they've created. Everyone shares a passion for providing exceptional care for our clients.

Tell Us a bit more about your personal life and interests

I enjoy spending time with my husband Broc, my stepdaughter Addy, and our two pets-our dog Bruno and our cat Louie.I am also an assistant coach for the Effingham High School basketball cheerleading team. In my free time, I enjoy staying active, exploring nature, and working on creative projects. 

Christina Miller

Tell us about yourself.

I have a diverse background with experience in healthcare and event planning so the world of aesthetics is still fairly new to me. I have been Behold's Event Planner for the last 3 years though so I was blessed enough to already know the team before becoming the Practice Manager.

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interests/treatment and why?

I love a good Hydrafacial and dermaplane combo. The HydraFacial leaves you feeling hydrated, refreshed, and literally glowing. I always get so many compliments on my skin after having one done, which makes me glow from the inside too!

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

I am behind the scenes a lot whether it be running metrics, tracking inventory, or planning our events, so I really enjoy when I get to interact with our amazing clientele.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

I've never worked with a more empowering group of women; we truly are a family here. I am inspired everyday by how hard everyone hustles while making it look effortless.

Tell us a bit more about your personal life and interests.

I have two daughters and we are always busy doing crafts, gardening, and baking. Outside of Behold I also coach volleyball for St. Anthony- go Dawgs!

AMANDA SMITH

Name and experience/training/med background?

My name is Amanda Smith. I worked as a receptionist for a plastic surgeon before I started at Behold. My prior experience made it an easy transition to the Behold team.

What is your area of specialty/ favorite area(s) of interest /treatment and why?

Working the front desk allows me to be the first point of contact for the customer. It is so rewarding when the customers first experience with Behold is a positive one!

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

The thing I enjoy most about my job is establishing relationships with the customer, so I can provide them with a more personalize experience.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

My favorite thing about being a part of the Behold team is our impeccable teamwork and passion for patient first care. I love seeing the patient walk through the door excited to be here and leave satisfied with their service.

Tell us a bit more about your personal life and interests.

I am originally from Cowden, but I now live in Beecher City. My hobbies include reading, spending time with friends and family, and cooking.

CIARA HANKINS

Tell Us About Yourself

Hi! My name is Ciara Hankins, and I have 5 years of experience working in customer service industries. I have received training in customer service and medical spa protocols, including knowledge of various treatments and procedures we offer here at Behold.

What is your area of specialty/favorite area(s) of interest/treatment and why?

As a receptionist, I really enjoy making sure clients feel comfortable and know what to expect from their treatments. I especially like talking to clients about our skin care services and their favorite products. It’s so great to see how these treatments help people feel better about themselves and more confident. I love being a part of that process, whether someone is here for a relaxing facial or something more advanced.

What do you enjoy most about your career/specialty?

What I enjoy most about my job is making our clients feel welcome and comfortable. It’s so rewarding to see them leave feeling refreshed and happy after their treatments. I also like learning about new beauty treatments and staying up-to-date on the latest trends. Every day is a chance to help someone feel good about themselves.

What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Behold team?

The best part about being on the Behold team is how kind and supportive everyone is. The team is full of sweet, caring people who really want to make sure every client has a great experience. There’s a fun, positive vibe here, and we all work together to help people look and feel their best. It makes coming to work every day really enjoyable.

Tell Us a bit more about your personal life and interests

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and springer spaniel. I live in Altamont, IL. I also love going to new places, reading, and hunting. A fun fact about me is I was apart of the 2024 Shotgun Sports Collegiate National Championship team. I’m also excited to share that I’ll be graduating in May 2026 with a Business Administration degree from SIUE. I’m looking forward to applying what I learn to grow in my career!

AMANDA SETTLE

Tell us about yourself.

I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with Nutrition Wise, a private practice in Effingham, Illinois. I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where, through pursuing a career as a ballet dancer, discovered my love for science and nutrition. I attended the University of Oklahoma where I studied Nutrition and Dietetics and earned a Bachelor of Science degree and completed my internship.

I have worked for several hospitals across Oklahoma, Missouri, and Illinois including St. Francis Health System, Barnes Jewish Hospital, and Memorial Medical Center. I moved to Effingham, Illinois in 2017 and worked as a dietitian for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2018, my former business partner, Lindsey Purcell, and myself started the private practice, Nutrition Wise. I now have the opportunity to serve my local clients in person as well as provide nutrition coaching virtually in other locations.  In the summer of 2022, I completed training for healthcare professionals for the Low FODMAP Diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) from Monash University. I enjoy helping individuals and families create a mealtime strategy that fits their lifestyle, treating their health challenges, and becoming the healthiest version of themselves. This year, I am serving as the official Dietitian/Nutritionist for the Tulsa Ballet. I currently live in Effingham, Illinois with my two boys Jackson and Wesley (who love to race dirt bikes), and two cats, Kylo and Vader.
